I LOVE smoothies! We have them all the time at my home. My littles go crazy over them!
Did you know there are more benefits eating a smoothie out of a bowl than drinking it out of a cup?! By adding fruit, nuts or whatever topping you choose to garnish your smoothie with you need to chew it up. This chewing process helps your body absorb more nutrients and aid in the digesting process. Cool huh? 🙂
I used Vital Proteins Collagen with the Strawberry Lemon flavor. You could use the unflavored as well—I really can’t tell a difference once I add in the fruit.
A couple tips: If you like a light and fluffy smoothie keep the ice ratio in there. If you like a thicker more heavy batter for your smoothie omit the ice and add in an extra cup of berries. Also, you can use any kind of berries/fruit you like (just make sure it’s frozen and feel free to have fun playing with the toppings! Also, if you use the plain Vital Protiens Collagen this is a Whole 30 smoothie bowl. I didn’t add in any sweetener which is fantastic because this is a pretty sweet smoothie! If you do prefer more of that sweetness honey will work great. This can really be a fun treat to make your own!
This smoothie is easy to throw together and great post workout or even for a breakfast or lunch. It’s loaded with superfoods and protein so no matter when you eat the smoothie it will be a healthy treat!
All you do to make the smoothie bowl is combine the ingredients in the blender and blend on high!
After the smoothie has blended too with your favorite toppings. Extra fruit works great as well as nuts/seeds. I used shredded coconut and pecans!
Enjoy!
